Sep 15, 2015 · The 686 was built for a specific reason, and that's to take the stresses of the faster and lighter hypersonic 110-125 grain 357 magnum bullets. The model 69 is a gun that may externally look the same as a 686 L-frame, but that barrel is a completely different design than the original frame and barrel combination.

My pistol also came with the white plastic part and shows signs of scratches and worn-out. I have concerns that this part would fail and cause an accidental discharge. You can shoot a box or 2 of Mini Mags, but they're a bit harder on the gun than Standard Velocity. Actually quite accurate for a 2.5" barrel, and I was impressed by the smooth cycle and reasonable recoil for a firearm so small. I do think the trigger pull is extremely long though, even for a DOA.

Anything the 41 can do the Ruger MKII can do better, cheaper and with less concern.Most definitely, saves the time and effort to fit the screw to the crane. Use the new style plunger with a piece of drill rod behind it instead of the spring. The older cranes had a square slot milled around the post on the crane. A square nosed screw went into that slot to retain the crane. Omitting the Hilary hole and usable sights are a major step in the right direction. I’m optimistic about the future of new Smith revolvers going forward. Please don’t let me down!
